I have talked about blogging as a way of making money online before, but this time I want to talk about a very specific type of blogging and that is niche blogging. Niche blogging is when you target a specific subject and narrow your posts to just that subject without going outside of it.
Now most blogs do target a certain niche, but the target is somewhat broad. That this blog for instance, it’s about making money online, but it’s a broad niche. As such I talk about different ways of making that money such as affiliate marketing, blogging, niche marketing and so on. Now if this blog was about making money online blogging that’s a much more focused niche and all my posts would be focused on just that.
So what would be the reason for doing those more focused niche blogs? Why for the money of course. If you are placing Google Adsense ads on those blogs the more targeted those ads will be. So if you are targeting high paying niche keywords like “peritoneal mesothelioma “ or “best buy gift card “ then your blog will be rich with high paying Adsense ads based on these keywords and will pay you well when clicked.
What you could do is create several of those highly targeted niche blogs put 20 to 30 posts on them and work to make sure they rank high in the search engines and that you are getting good targeted traffic to them and then lay back and let them work.

I have been very busy lately doing art commissions, which brings me to what this post is all about, doing what you love to make money online. I love doing art, but for several months I have put my art on the back burner in order to do niche marketing and affiliate marketing. I have been learning all about these things and have posted my learning progress on this blog.
What I have also realized is that I can use what I have learned in association with my art also. So I plan to create some art products and use what I have learned to promote those products. What really got my juices going is an e-mail I got from Russell Brunson, an Internet marketing guru, that a link to theses videos that show Russell being interviewed on news shows like ABC news, Fox news and NBC news.
In these interviews Russell talks about people that make money doing what they love and how he made his first money online from selling a video on how to make a potato gun. Since I have gone back to doing my art I have made more money in the last few weeks than I have in the months since I have started concentrating on affiliate and niche marketing. Now I’m not saying that I’m going to stop doing these things and I’m also not saying that I can’t make money doing them because I have made some.
What I am saying is a lot of the niche marketing and affiliate marketing I will be doing will be art related. If you are trying to make money online through Internet marketing below are some of Russell Brunson’s products that can help you along the way.

A lot of people get discouraged from trying to make money online because of all the promises of fast cash and big money they get from the so called gurus. They hear how they can make $10,000 in a few days, they buy the product and it doesn’t happen. After a few times of this they come to the conclusion that you can’t make money online.
You see the reason the gurus can make $10, 000 in a few days is because they have already done the work needed. They did the work needed to build a massive list. They did the work needed to create and promote products and they did they work to get people like you and I to buy their products. Believe me getting to making $10,000 in a few days took longer to get to than a few days.
Making money online takes a lot of work. It’s not easy and it’s not fast, but it is fulfilling. It’s fulfilling to be in charge of your own life and not be under someone’s thumb. If you read yesterday’s post you know that I was without power or online service for more than a week. Before my power went out I had discovered a free software that could help you make money online by building keyword rich mini-websites for you based on keywords that you choose.
The name of the software is HyperVre. With HyperVre you are given templates with variables that you edit to give custom websites. Don’t worry if you don’t know what variables are, you also get videos and manual that will walk through the process of creating your websites.
Once you have a keyword you want to build your site around you put it in the HyperVre software which will generate sub-keyword phrases. You choose the sub-keywords that you want to use and HyperVre will create pages based on those sub-keywords.
After working with this software for a few days and figuring out how to manipulate some things, I found that I can create a website in an hour or maybe a little more. I wanted to do a quick post on fighting the boredom that comes along with affiliate marketing and niche marketing. For me the boredom comes with the promoting part. Writing articles, commenting on blogs and posting in forums is boring as hell to me, but these things are necessary in order to make money online no matter what you’re doing.
If you keep working on something that bores you it can be discouraging and make you want to quit. I have found that doing these boring things in small portions is very affective in fighting boredom. I am a creative person so building websites is more pleasing for me than marketing them. So, what I have found is that I can work on the promoting until I get bored, then I can work on creating a website and get energized and I’m still working on something to make money online. I can then work on promoting again later.
If you’re anything like me you want to do all of one thing until it’s done and have it out of the way as quickly as possible. But, forcing yourself to keep doing a boring task can make you want to give up. Take a break and do something that you like doing that’s still in line with making money.
One more thing I want to mention is doing something that doesn’t work as well as you thought or at all can also be discouraging and make you give up. However, just keep trying. Try something, different. Look at what others are doing that are making it and copy them. After all they are really only people like you. Just keep in mind that you can make money online as long as you keep at it

This is week I will be concentrating on writing articles for my new niche so I won’t be posting much this week. I’m trying something different with this niche than I’ve done with the other niches I have worked on that should help me make money online.
Besides using Blogger as my website, I’m using Squidoo Lenses as landing pages for a couple of affiliate products. I think Squidoo Lenses make good landing pages because they are just one page and unlike Hub Pages, you can have affiliate links on them.
You just setup your lens giving a little information about your affiliate product, add links to the product and let it take it from there. Since Google loves Squidoo also this can help get search engine traffic.
This is just an experiment and I’ll let you know how it turns out. You may want to try it yourself. It might help you to make money online.

Although from time to time I plan to do more promoting for the niche I have been working in this series, for now I am finished with it and will let it work for me now. I will be doing updates on this niche to see if it was a good one to make money online with.
I will now move on to another niche. My plan is to do something a little different. I plan to use a blog as my website for the niche. As you know you can make a blog for free so this is another thing to add as a way to make money online for free. Well, lets look at what I did working the new niche I was working in this series.
First of all I had to choose a niche keyword or phrase that had the criteria needed to make it worth trying. The keyword had to be high paying, have a good amount of searches and low competition. In order to do the research on the keywords and phrases I used a few tools.
Next I built the website using what I know about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). The SEO will help my niche mini-site place well in the search engines. The content of the site had to contain the keyword phrase that I was targeting. The content on my niche site was articles, videos and reviews, all keyword rich.
With the niche mini-site finished I then had to promote it. The main promotion I wanted to do was article marketing. All of the Internet gurus swear by article marketing and an experiment I did with another mini-niche site proved to me that article marketing works. Article marketing does two things. It gets you targeted traffic to your website and backlinks for it as well.
After submitting my articles to article directories and having them approved, I then social book marked the articles and the website at place like Stumbleupon, Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit and other bookmarking sites. I used Social Poster and Socialmarker to do my bookmarking. I want to say that you could stop your promotion at article marketing and do well, but I like to give my promotion an extra boost.
Continuing with promoting my niche mini-site, I created some Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses that I put links to my website on. This is another way to get traffic and backlinks for the site. You can also make money online from Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses from eBay and Amazon ads.
The last thing I did to promote my niche mini-site is commenting on blogs with a PR (Page Rank) of 3 or better as well as commenting on forums and other people’s Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses. When commenting in these venues you can leave a link to your site giving you more backlinks.

Yesterday I made a couple of Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses for my new niche, now comes the last step in marketing my niche, which is commenting on high PR blogs and forums. Another thing I will be doing is commenting on other people’s Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses.
Commenting gives you the chance to leave a link to your niche mini-site, which will get you more traffic and backlinks. All of this is free to do and helps you make money online. When commenting you must make sure that where you are commenting is relevant to your niche. You also want to make sure you use your target keyword or phrase as your text link. Avoid using banners or graphics in your signature on forums.
When commenting on blogs you want to make sure they have a Page Rank of at least 3 and where they ask for information like your name and URL, use your target keyword as your name that way it will be the link to your site. The search engines will see this as a relevant backlink and that will help move your site up in the search results for that keyword.
Other ways to promote your niche mini-site is by starting your own blog on your niche subject, make a video and put it on YouTube and other video sites, Twitter it, get a Myspace and Facebook presence and put ads on free ad directories. Use as many ways as you can to promote your niche mini-site to get traffic, backlinks and make money online.

The next step in my promotion of my new niche mini-site is to make some Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses. Both of these sites can not only get you some targeted traffic to your website, but can also help you make money online. With both sites you have the opportunity to make money from eBay and Amazon with widgets placed on the sites and with Hub Pages you can half of the Google Adsense revenue made from your pages.
I will put a link to my niche mini-site on my Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses, which will boost the site up the search engines. Once the Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses are done I will also social bookmark them, which will get more traffic to them and hopefully more traffic to my niche mini-site.
Another way I plan to use Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses in the future to make money online is as the main source for a niche instead of building a website. Google already loves Hub Pages and Squidoo Lenses so I will take advantage of that.
Continuing with the promoting of my new niche mini-site to make money online, I will do some social bookmarking. Now that I have put up some articles at article directories I will bookmark them along with the website itself at social bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumbleupon, Propeller, Twitter and others.
Social bookmarking the articles and website will not only drive traffic to them, but also give them backlinks from high PR sites and push them higher up on the search engines, which will drive even more traffic to them as well as more targeted traffic thus helping you make money online.
I use two sites to do my social bookmarking, Social Poster and Socialmarker. These sites have a list of high-ranking bookmarking sites to bookmark your sites at. If you haven’t done so you’ll have to register to the each site.
After you have registered to each bookmarking site use Social Poster and Socialmarker to start posting to them. You fill in the information for your site like URL, keywords, title and description and as you go through and post your site to the bookmarking sites that information, for the most part is automatically filled in for you saving you lots time.
Social bookmarking is just another way to promote your niche mini-site and help you to make money online.
On another note I was approved for Platinum membership at EzineArticles I can now submit an unlimited number of articles there.

My not-so-mini niche mini-site is done and up and has some affiliate products on it. I call this a not-so-mini mini-site because I did more work on it than I should have. I have videos with separate pages, different product pages and review pages. However I was able to escape doing article pages by using an RSS feed from Amazines an article directory. I won’t be doing that much work on my next mini-site.
Now that my niche mini-site is done it’s time to do the promoting. I’m starting of with article marketing. Article marketing has proven to be an affective way of getting targeted visitors to your website. It is also a great way to get backlinks for your website not only from article directories, but also from other websites that may put your articles on their websites. Any website that uses your article is obligated to add your author resource box with the article which should have a link to your website.
I have written 4 articles and have already started submitting to the article directories. I have used up my basic membership at EzineArticles and have applied for the Platinum membership, which is also free. I’ll have to wait until I hear from EzineArticles before I can submit any more articles to them.

Some of these article directories post your article immediately, some you have to wait for approval. After I hit all the article directories I’ll do some other marketing techniques.

I have finished my niche mini-site except for the two pages where I plan to put affiliates products on. Right now I waiting to see what affiliate programs I get approved for if any. Meanwhile I’m writing articles for the niche since promoting will be my next step.

I want to talk a little bit more about your niche website today. The content for your website can be original or you can get it from other sources on the web. Original content is always best, but if you’re doing these mini niche sites you want to get them up as fast as possible and you don’t want to take time writing articles, making videos and such, you to make money online as soon as you can.
For the mini niche site I am working on I will have articles, tips, reviews and videos and I am doing none it. You can get all of this content for free on the Internet, videos from YouTube, articles from article directories and tips and reviews from other websites. The more content you can put on your mini niche site that you can add your keyword to the better you can position your site on the search engines. But remember it is a mini-site so you don’t want to over do it you still want it to be quick and easy.
I like using articles and videos because people absolutely love them, especially videos they are less work for them. I want you to remember that I am not an expert, I am using things that I learned from Mini-Site Profits Exposed and The 30 Day Challenge both of these are free resources. The Thirty Day Challenge is now in pre-season. Mini-Sites Exposed is a free video course that’s a great resource for learning about mini niche site.

I have chosen my niche keyword using the tools I told you about yesterday and have started working on my website. Here are the stats on the keyword I chose.
Competition: 27,000 Estimated Daily Searches: 118 Cost per Click: $1.07-$7.34
I should be able to get on the first page of the search engines and make some good money from Google Adsense clicks once I start promoting the site. The keyword I chose is also related to a product so I will also monetize the site with products from affiliate programs, which will also help me make money online from the website.
In order to keep your make money online quest totally free you can use a free web host to put your website on. I already have an account with Host Excellence so I will use one of my sub-domains for my website.
Now let’s talk about the website and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). It is very important to optimize your website to get search engine traffic, that is your most targeted traffic because they are looking for whatever it is you website is about. Think about it they entered your niche keyword into a search engine and found your site.
So lets do some SEO. First you what to make sure you have your niche keyword in the title of you website. I don’t use graphics with my website title in it because the search engines don’t pick the title up from that. I write the title out and use other design methods around that. Now you want to spread your keyword throughout the content on your website as much as you can and make it look natural and not over done. And remember the more content you have on your website the more chances you have to add your niche keyword.
Put your keyword and some longtailed keywords from your niche into the title bar. If you use graphics and images put your keyword in the alt tags. You can also try to put you niche keyword in the links on your site. Also lets not forget your meta description, be sure to add your keyword there. You will also what to use <H1> and <H2> tags on your site with your keyword inside them.
The last thing you want to do that will help with your SEO is put your niche keyword in the URL of your website. These SEO methods can help make your website more relevant to the search engines thus putting your website higher on their pages, which will help you make money online. I will continue to work on my website and hopefully have it done in a couple of days.

I am now ready to continue My Make Money Online Adventure by working on some mini-site niches. The sites that I will be working on will mainly be targeting making money from Google Adsense therefore I will be targeting high paying niche keywords and phrases. I will breakup this process into a series of posts and take you with me step by step to find out what works and what doesn’t.
The first thing I will have to do is find some good niche keywords to build my sites around. One of the most important things you have to do is research your niche keywords to find which ones are worth spending your time on. You want keywords and phrases that are high paying with a good daily search count and low competition. I will be using a few tools to help me along with that and that’s what I will be talking about today. All the tools listed are free to use and can help you make money online.
Google Adsense Top Paying Keywords: This site has a list of high paying keywords and phrases. Even though the site seems to have a lot of keywords and phrases they are basically on the same few subjects. For me it’s not really all that useful, but I’m sure some people can get some use out of it. I will try some keywords from here, but I have also come up with some of my own keywords also.
SpyFu: Once you have your keyword or phrase you want to go here to see what PPC advertisers are paying per click for that keyword to Google. The higher they pay the more you get paid. I want keywords that are getting from $1.00 to at least $2.00. Once you enter your keyword and hit search you will get information on that keyword which includes a price range that PPC advertisers are paying for it that would be like $1.08-$8.39 for example.
Wordtracker: Once you have a good paying niche keyword you can use Wordtracker to find out what the competition is for it and how many searches are done for it daily. I learned from The 30 Day Challenge that you want the competition to be under 30,000 and the search amount to be 100 and over. Once you do a search for a keyword, Wordtracker will give you long tails of that keyword that you can check to see if they might be more useful to you.
Those three tools are the ones I’m using and can tell you all you really need to know to choose some good niche keywords. Some other tools that are free to use and that can help you research your niche keywords are SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool, which suggests other key phrases and gives you a rough estimate of daily search volumes from Google, Yahoo and MSN. NicheBot Classic does the same as the SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool, but it also allows you to check the competition on each search engine. NicheBot Classic is powered by Wordtracker.

I just want to give a brief update on the niche I was working. When doing a broad search on Google for the key phrase I targeted I found that the main website is 14th on the first page and I have an article that is 20th on the first page. I don’t think that’s to bad. I didn’t check any other pages I was mainly concerned about the first page.
When I did an exact key phrase search I found that the main website is 5th on the first page of Google. I have an article at the 6th spot and bookmarks at 7th and 19th spots. Not to bad for a site that’s only been up a little over a month and about a weeks work getting up the search engines.
Let’s look at the money. I haven’t made any affiliate money yet, but I have made some Google Adsense money. I am getting plenty of Adsense clicks, but sense the niche is a low paying key phrase the money isn’t as good as it could be. However I can see the potential when targeting higher paying keywords and phrases, which is my plan.
I want to finish with boosting my older sites by the end of this month and then start working on new niches.
